The peptides were studied in morphine-sensitized animals and compared with naloxone (30 microg) or nor-binaltorphimine (1 microg, selective kappa opioid receptor antagonist). Intrathecal pretreatment with dynorphin A-(1-8) (30 nmol) had no effect on the spinal antihyperalgesic effect of intrathecal saline (0.4 microl) in morphine-sensitized animals. In contrast, microinjection of dynorphin A-(1-8) (30 nmol) significantly enhanced the spinal antihyperalgesic effect of naloxone (30 microg), but had no effect on the antihyperalgesic effect of nor-binaltorphimine (1 microg).
